Women's DIII News Names Linzmeier All-American

Sally Linzmeier

For the third time since the 2014-15 season concluded, Yellowjacket senior guard Sally Linzmeier (Valders, Wis./Valders) has received All-American honors. Coming on the heels of First Team honors from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and Second Team recognition from d3hoops.com Linzmeier has been named All-American First Team by Women's DIII News.

A year ago Women's DIII News named Linzmeier a pre-season All-American, and after the year she was named to the site's All-American Third Team. This year Linzmeier was listed in the site's Top 24 Players to Watch for 2014-15 and was named to the First Team.

"There are three groups that name All-Americans in Division III college basketball on the women's side, and for all three of these groups to select Sally as a member of their teams just reinforces what a tremendous year and what a tremendous talent that this young lady is," Yellowjacket Head Coach Don Mulhern said. "Everything that has come her way throughout the post-season has been deserved.

"She is a talent the likes of which don't come around that often. She has made her teammates better in multiple ways. She has made me a better coach. And in reality she has made the University of Wisconsin-Superior a better place."

In addition to her three All-American honors Linzmeier was the WIAC Player of the Year for the second year in a row. She was named All-WIAC First Team for the third straight year and made her fourth consecutive appearance on the WIAC All-Defensive Team. She was an All-Central Region First Team pick and the Central Region Co-Player of the Year according to d3hoops.com. Away from the court Linzmeier was named Capital One Academic All-Region and Capital One Academic All-American by CoSIDA and received the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was also a finalist for the prestigious 2015 Jostens Trophy.

Linzmeier wrapped up her career at UW-Superior ranked first in points (1,686), steals (318), field goals made (603), and free throws made (447). She tied for second in games played (101), is second in assists (335), third in rebounds (754), and is tied for fourth in blocks (44).
