Paul Eberhardt was hired as the Yellowjacket men's golf head coach in February 2016. In January 2019, he was also tabbed as the women's head coach. Entering the 2025-26 season, he is in his 10th season as head coach for the men, and seventh year as the women's head coach.
The 2023-24 season featured the Yellowjacket men secure a fifth Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championship under Eberhardt. The 'Jackets shot scores of 301, 315 and 315 for a team score of 931 behind Nate Burke, coming just one shot away from being part of a playoff to determine the tournament's top scorer. Andrew Rude fired rounds of 74, 81, and 75 as he finished fourth overall just behind Burke. Eberhardt guided UWS to place first place in four tournaments, including a two-tournament win streak in the Twin Ports Collegiate (Sep. 9-10) and the UMAC Preview (305). The Yellowjackets grabbed the top spot in the MLC Fall Invitational along with the conference championship tournament. UW-Superior saw Burke, Rude, along with Conner Willard and Blu Anderson obtain All-UMAC honors, with Anderson tabbed as the UMAC Rookie of the Year. Eberhardt secured coach of the year honors for the fourth time.
Eberhardt paced the 'Jacket women within the top three in four separate tournaments, including the UMAC Championships. UWS was led by Ashton Parnell and Olivia Weyenberg, who received All-UMAC First Team and honorable mention citations for their efforts, respectively. Parnell consistently led the 'Jacket scoring, finishing with three finishes in the top ten along with a top five finish. During the UMAC Championships, she finished sixth with a three-day total of 265.
In 2022-23, the Yellowjackets won the fourth UMAC men's golf championship in program history. Entering the final round of action, the 'Jackets were faced with a 13-stroke deficit. Charles Martin led the charge and helped pace the 30-over-par 318 to claim championship honors by just two strokes over Northwestern. Martin's card featured an eagle on the 395 yard par-4 seventh and three birdies, earning a tie for third overall.
Eberhardt would guide UWS to win three regular season tournaments, including the UMAC Preview, Crown Dual, and UW-Superior Fall Classic. Earning All-UMAC First Team honors were Charles Martin and Cody Stanisich, while Nate Burke secured a spot on the Second Team. In addition, the Yellowjackets earned the UMAC Team Sportsmanship Award, with Martin being the lone representative on the squad.
For the Yellowjacket women's team, Bryce Burris and Allie Maschke would secure All-UMAC honors. Burris would post her career-low round of 86 twice, including in the opening round of the UMAC Championship. She was the top finisher at the tournament with a fifth overall placement. Maschke was second on the team for scoring average (101), posting a season-low round of 86 to earn a tie of fourth place at the MLC Invite.
In 2021-22, the 'Jackets would finish third in the UMAC men's golf championship, shooting a 27-over-par 315 in the final round of action. UW-Superior would win two regular season tournaments, including the North Central Invitational and the Yellowjacket Invitational. Taylor Burger and Cody Stanisich would earn All-UMAC First Team plaudits, while Sam Albrecht would snag an honorable mention selection for his 81.4 average in all 15 rounds on the season.
Eberhardt would aid Ally Busick to an All-UMAC First Team selection and Bryce Burris an honorable mention tab on the women's side. Busick would lead the team with a scoring average of 92.9. Appearing in all nine events, she would card five top-10 finishes and two finishes in the top-5. Her best round was fired at the opening tournament, the UW-Oshkosh Titan Classic. Burris would card a 95.3 scoring average and finished 13th overall at the UMAC championship, including a season-best 89 in the final round of action.
Eberhardt led the Yellowjackets to the first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship title in 2018-19, helping UWS defeat Northwestern in a playoff to advance to the NCAA Championship for the first time in history. He led UWS to its second consecutive conference title in 2019, winning by 34 strokes over second-place St. Scholastica. The 'Jackets won three tournaments on the season, including the season-opening Twin Ports Collegiate (Aug. 30-31), the UMAC Preview (Sept. 5) and the UMAC Championship (Oct. 3-5). Joey Cummings took the individual title at the UMAC Preview with a 2-over-par 74, while Ryan Peterson was individual medalist in the UMAC championship with an even-par 216.
In 2017-18, Eberhardt helped the Yellowjackets to a third-place finish in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, while Cummings was an individual medalist.
In his first season, Eberhardt helped the Yellowjackets to a third-place finish in the UMAC and followed that with a conference championship in 2018. UWS finished 38th in the NCAA tournament, held at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky. Eberhardt won two consecutive UMAC Coach of the Year awards for men's golf in 2017 and 2018.
In addition to the head golf coach duties, Eberhardt previously served as the head men's basketball coach at UW-Superior from 2012-17. In five seasons, Eberhardt led the Yellowjackets to a 44-83 record and a pair of postseason appearances.
Eberhardt came to UW-Superior from Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. At ECC, Eberhardt served as athletics director and dean of students. In those roles, everything from department budgets to game management to scheduling fell under Eberhardt's supervision.
Eberhardt began his coaching career as an undergraduate at Winona (Minn.) State, where he was a student assistant coach with the men's basketball program for one season. Later, from 1998-00, Eberhardt spent two seasons as an assistant coach at UW-River Falls. After two seasons, Eberhardt departed for Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College. For two seasons, Eberhardt was an assistant coach at SCC before accepting the head coaching position in 2002. Eberhardt led the Fighting Artichokes for eight seasons. In that time, he was responsible for all aspects of the men's basketball program, including recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, fundraising and practice and game management. Eberhardt coached three All-Americans, 10 all-region and 14 all-conference players at SCC.
A native of Wonewoc, Wis., Eberhardt graduated from Winona State in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He received his teaching certification in secondary education-broad-field social studies from UW-River Falls in 2000. Then, in 2006, Eberhardt earned a Master of Science degree in education, with an emphasis in sports leadership from Virginia Commonwealth.
Eberhardt and his wife Beth reside in South Range. They have three daughters, Riley, Reagan and Reese.
