The University of Wisconsin Superior moved its record to 3-0 at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium with a straight-set sweep of Crown College in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
UW-Superior (6-16, 2-3 UMAC) hit .267 as a team, never collecting more than five attacking errors in any set with just 13 total on the day. After Crown College (1-18, 0-4 UMAC) opened a 3-0 lead in the opening set, the Yellowjackets would rally right back to make it 3-3. The two teams traded scores until they drew even at 11-all. UWS scored seven straight points and then 14-of-15 to take the opening set going away, 25-12.
The Storm opened up a run to start the second set, going up 6-2, but another big Yellowjacket run, this time eight-straight scores pushed UW-Superior ahead for the duration as they would eventually hold on for a 25-17 victory. The Yellowjackets jumped out early in game three, leading by as much as five before saw Crown scratched back into it, cutting the lead to 15-13. A four-point swing in favor of the home team put the game on ice as UWS held for a 25-19 victory.
In addition to their strong offensive game, the Yellowjackets held tough on defense as the Storm hit just .029 with 23 errors to just 26 kills. UW-Superior had four blocks to go with 51 kills and six service aces for their scoring. Senior right-side hitter

Emily VerWay (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley H.S.) had 32 assists, six digs, four kills, one block, and one ace on the afternoon, while junior defensive specialist
