The University of Wisconsin Superior officially opened up the second half of its season and a two-game series against Finlandia University as the Yellowjackets rolled to a 7-1 victory over the Lions on Saturday night in Hancock, Michigan.
UW-Superior (6-7-0) scored multiple goals in each period including three times in the third period as well as three times on the powerplay. Freshman forward
Kaleigh Martinson (Dayton, Minn./Champlin Park H.S.) scored the first two goals of her Yellowjacket career, while junior defender
Abby Constant-Bercier (The Pas, Man.) got the action started with her first of the season, getting assists from freshman
Molly Shelton (Pine Island, Minn./Pine Island H.S.) and junior
Mikayla Goodin (Andover, Minn./Andover H.S.). The duo wiould each add a goal of their own on the day as six different players scored for UWS on the day, with 10 different Yellowjackets earning at least a point.

Hannah Currin (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy H.S.), and sophomore
Sam Westgaard (Elk River, Minn./Elk River H.S.) each also added multiple points on the day as UW-Superior rolled past Finlandia (0-13-0). Sophomore goaltender
Natasha Singer (Kimberley, B.C./Warner H.S.) picked up the victory between the pipes for the Yellowjackets, making 19 stops. Annah Siddy took the loss for the Lions, making 39 saves.
UW-Superior finished 3-for-4 on the powerplay, twice scoring within the first 20 seconds of a skater advantage. Finlandia sored its lone goal of the night on the powerplay, breaking up the shutout at 16:37 of the third period to finish 1-for-5. The Yellowjackets out-shot Finlandia 46-20 on the night.
