UMAC Player of the Week Awards - 4/10/2017
After an impressive 4-0 weekend in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play, the University of Wisconsin Superior swept the week's UMAC Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week awards as sophomore outifelder
Saige Patrick (Steinbach, Man./St. Mary's Academy) and rookie right-handed pitcher
Megan Pehrson (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids H.S.) were honored by the league Monday. Perhson claimed her second such honor in the last three weeks.
Patrick batted 10-for-13 (.769) on the week with six extra-base hits including her second home run of the season, drove in three runs, crossed the plate five times, and walked once on the week. Her spot in the order also scored two more runs when she was removed for a pinch runner. In Sunday's doubleheader with Northland College, Patrick was 6-for-6 with three triples.
Pehrson dominated on the mound for the UW-Superior (12-9, 5-1 UMAC), tossing three complete games including a pair of shutouts in both ends of the doubleheader against the University of Minnesota Morris. In total, she allowed just two earned runs on 13 hits while striking out 24 in 19.0 innings of work, moving to 8-3 on the season with three victories while posting a 0.74 ERA.
