UMAC Player of the Week Awards (May 8, 2017)
While senior
Chad Patko (Stone Lake, Wis./Hayward H.S.)'s steal of home claimed the headlines last week as the University of Wisconsin Superior claimed a bid to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament later this week, sophomore first baseman
Travis Miller (Whittier, Calif./La Serna H.S.) quietly put together a massive offensive week to earn the title of UMAC Player of the Week on Monday.
Miller is the Yellowjackets' second player of the week seelction this season after freshman teammate
Cory Albertson (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater H.S.) earned the title back on April 17. In seven games last week, the slugger batted 9-for-27 (.429/.552/.952) with three home runs, two doubles, 13 runs batted in, and seven runs scored. He drew six walks on the week and stole a base in one attempt while making just one error in 52 chances. One of his two home runs Saturday against North Central University came in the middle of three-straight for UWS with Patko and Albertson before and after him, respectively. UW-Superior (15-25) went 5-3 including a 4-0 weekend to clinch a playoff bid with Miller providing much of the offensive punch.
