Meet Results

The Yellowjacket men's track and field team was in action Saturday at the Twin Ports Invite, which they hosted. The Yellowjackets were looking to build off of the success they had at the Super 8 Open that was held last week at Bemidji, Minn.

They did just that and more, as by the end of the day they had set six new personal records and had a team that was the top in the nation.

The biggest story of the day came from the 4x1600-meter relay team consisting of Jackson Lindquist (Thomson, Minn./Esko), Rand Bieri (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet), Jordan Koski (Park Falls, Wis./Chequamegon), and Charles Corbett (Park Falls, Wis./Chequamegon). The team finished the race in first place with a time of 18:09.73, setting the all-time school record in the 4x1600-meter relay, indoor or outdoor track, in the process.

Despite all that, the most impressive result of the 4x1600 had to be that it ranked the Yellowjackets as the top team in the nation in the event in all divisions. The Yellowjackets are now the top 4x1600-meter relay team in NCAA DI, DII, DIII, and the NAIA.

"It's unbelievable." Coach Glen Drexler said. "The results speak for themselves. Not only did they finish with a new school record, but they rank as the top team in the nation at every level."

The Yellowjackets had strong results from the relay teams all day. The 4x800-meter team consisting of Aaron Peterson (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet), Koski, Corbett, and Lindquist came in second with a time of 8:30.96. The men's sprint medley team consisting of Alex Dzikonski (South Range, Wis./Superior), Joe Olinger (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes), Alex Fathie (Rochester, Minn./John Marshall), and Peterson also finished in second with a time of 3:46.00. The 4x200 team consisting of Kyle Wilkerson (Chisago City, Minn./Chisago Lakes), Olinger, Dzikonski, and Fathie took home second also.

Thomas Udenberg (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) came in second place in the shot put with a throw of 49 feet 3.75 inches. Coming in right behind him was Tony Willette (Wells, Minn./United South Central) with a throw of 45 feet 1.75 inches.

Fathie came in third in the 400-meter run with a time of 53.68.

Devon Webb (Ashwaubenon, Wis./Ashwaubenon) set a new personal record in the 200-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 27.23 to finish third in the event.

"This was a good meet for us," Drexler said, "everybody came out and did well. It is definitely something we can build off of going into our next couple of meets."

The Yellowjackets will be back in action on Friday, January 29 when they travel to Menomonie, Wis. to take part in the Warren Bowlus Open. The meet is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
