UMAC Athletes of the Week (Dec. 5, 2016)
The University of Wisconsin Superior boasts both the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week and Field Athlete of the Week in the league's first release of 2016-17 announced Monday.
Sophomore
C.J. Pillath (Coleman, Wis./Coleman H.S.) finished earned the Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at Saturday's "Opener" meet hosted by the College of St. Scholastica. He finished second overall, trailling only a hurler from NCAA II University of Minnesota Duluth in the weight throw with a distance of 15.76 meters, which currently ranks seventh in the nation for NCAA Division-III. Thomas Udenberg (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet H.S.) with a personal-best toss of 14.12 meters.
Freshman
Spencer Sutton (Minocqua, Wis./Lakeland Union H.S.) earned the Track Athlete of the Week honor in his debut performance for UW-Superior. He broke Nathaniel Hargrove's ten-year program record (2007) in the 200m dash with a time of 0:23.18, ranking 30th in the nation currently.
