UMAC Athletes of the Week (Dec. 5, 2016)

Sophomore Taylor Phillips (Superior, Wis./Superior H.S.) threw her way to the title of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week as the University of Wisconsin Superior debuted this past weekend at "The Opener" hosted by the College of St. Scholastica.

Phillips posted a pair of personal records in Saturday's debut meet for the Yellowjackets. She finished third in the shot put, throwing a distance of 12.70 meters and sixth in the weight throw at 13.45 meters. She bested her previous PR in the shot by over two-thirds of a meter and ranked eighth in all of NCAA Division III.

The Yellowjackets will return to competition after the holidays at Bemidji State's Super 8 Invite on January 14.
