The Yellowjacket men's track and field team was in action over the weekend, taking part in the UMAC Championships. The Yellowjacket were able to enjoy some home field advantage over the weekend, as the conference meet was hosted by UW-Superior.

In a weekend that would see all kinds of new records set, it was the Yellowjackets who may have shined the brightest.

Charles Corbett (Park Falls, Wis./Chequamegon) continued his phenomenal senior season with an outstanding weekend. By the time Corbett was done with the meet, he had set four new UMAC records. Corbett's meet started out on Friday, when he took part in the 5000-meter run. The race quickly turned into a two man show between Corbett and teammate Jackson Lindquist (Thomson, Minn./Esko). In the end it was Corbett who edged Lindquist, coming in with a time of 15:16.33 to set a new UMAC record, while Lindquist finished with a time of 15:21.68. Teammate Jordan Koski (Park Falls, Wis./Chequamegon) had a strong 5000-meter run of his own, finishing in fourth.

The next record Corbett was part of was the distance medley relay. The Yellowjacket team of Lindquist, Noah Potratz (Ripon, Wis./Ripon), Rand Bieri (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet), and Corbett dominated the rest of the competition, coming in with a time of 10:41.20, to beat the second place team by 0:31.01 seconds.

Saturday saw Corbett start his day with the 1-mile run. The race quickly turned into a two man show between Corbett and Lindquist. With the race neck-and-neck going into the last lap, Corbett kicked it into high gear as he finished with a time of 4:21.10 to set another UMAC record. Lindquist finished just behind him, coming in at 4:22.57, while Koski took third with a time of 4:33.57.

Corbett's final race of the meet was the 3000-meter run. This one played out very similar to the previous individual race he had run. It quickly turned into a race between Corbett and Lindquist, with Corbett once again holding the edge, coming in with a time of 8:50.04 to set a new UMAC record. Lindquist finished with a time of 8:57.54, while Koski came in fourth with a time of 9:24.49.

Corbett wasn't the only Yellowjacket to have success over the weekend, as the relay teams went out and put on a good show. The 4x200-meter relay team consisting of Caleb Hohensee (Antigo, Wis./Antigo), Joe Olinger (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes), Alex Dzikonski (South Range, Wis./Superior), and Alex Fathie (Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) took first overall with a time of 1:34.08. The 4x400-meter relay team of Aaron Peterson (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet), Bieri, Dzikonski, and Fathie took second with a time of 3:34.86.

Other top individual on the track side were Fathie, who placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.03, while Peterson took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.17

On the field side of things, Thomas Udenberg (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) took first in the shot put with a top throw of 52 feet, 1 inch (15.87 meters). Udenberg's throw sets a new UMAC Record. Teammate Tony Willette (Wells, Minn./United South Central) finished third in the shot put with a top throw of 47 feet, 3.75 inches (14.42 meters). Willete also placed second in the weight throw, with a top throw of 52 feet, 6 inches (16 meters), while teammate C.J. Pillath (Coleman, Wis./Coleman) took third with a tip throw of 51 feet, 4.25 inches (15.65 meters)
