The University of Wisconsin Superior's throwing duo of sophomore
C.J. Pillath (Coleman, Wis./Coleman H.S.) and senior
Thomas Udenberg (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet H.S.) led the way finishing 1-2 in their events as the Yellowjackets competed at Bemidji State University's Super 8 Open on Saturday afternoon.
Udenberg would claim first place in the shot put with a distance of 13.98 meters, while Pillath was just behind him in second place with a distance of 13.32 meters. In the weight throw, the pair went just the opposite with Pillath claiming first place with a distance of 16.53 meters, just 0.02 off his personal-best distance. Zach Myran (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley H.S.) set a personal-best in the triple jump, leaping 11.08 meters to finished third while the University of Jamestown's Alex Huff took first place at 11.72 meters. Junior Tyler Modderman-Anderson finished third in the pole vault, leaping 3.50 meters, just 0.15 off of first-place finisher Frank Cere of the College of St. Scholastica.
Sophomore
Matt Swanson () would claim a second-place finish for UWS, running a time of 2:10.88 in the 800-meter Run. Swanson also finished third in the 400-meter run with a time of 0:53.91.
