UMAC Player of the Week Awards - April 17, 2017
For the first time in the outdoor season and the second time overall in 2016-17, the University of Wisconsin Superior sophomore
Taylor Phillips (Superior, Wis./Superior H.S.) has earned the title of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
In two meets last week, Phillips earned three top-five finishes in six events. At Hamline University on Wednesday evening, Phillips placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 11.54 meters. She was tenth in the discus but set a new personal record with a mark of 36.39 meters. Then at Gustavus Adolphus College's Lee Krough Invitational on Saturday, Phillips upped her game and placed second in the shot put with a personal-record mark of 12.41 meters. She later placed fourth in the discus and again set a new personal record with a mark of 38.07 meters. Phillips is first on the UMAC honor roll in both the shot put and the discus.

UW-Superior will be back in action on Friday afternoon at the Phil Esten Challenge hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse. The event gets underway at 3 p.m.
