UMAC Player of the Week Awards (Jan. 16, 2017)
For the second time in the 2016-17 Indoor Track & Field season, the University of Wisconsin-Superior swept the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference's weekly honors as sophomores
Matt Swanson () and
C.J. Pillath (Coleman, Wis./Coleman H.S.) were named the Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, on Monday.
Pillath enjoyed a good day at Bemidji State University's Super 8 Open on Saturday. He placed second in the shot put with a mark of 13.32 meters. He followed that with a win in the weight throw, hitting a mark of 16.53 meters. Pillath now sits 15th in the nation in the weight throw. December 5, 2016 earlier this season.
After a six-year hiatus, Swanson returned to the track last week at the Bemidji State and took second place in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:10.88. Later, Swanson finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 53.91 seconds. Both times were personal records.
