Box Score

Whitewater 5, Yellowjackets 1

The Yellowjacket women's soccer team got back in the win column on Saturday afternoon and hoped that the momentum would carry over into Sunday, allowing them to pick up their first conference win of the season.  Whitewater, however, had other ideas.

The Warhawks scored a pair of goals in first 20 minutes and it was too much for the Yellowjackets to overcome, as they dropped a 5-1 decision on the road.

Christina Tooren scored in the 16th minute to stake the Warhawks to a 1-0.  Minutes later at 19:17 Stacey Schultz scored to make it 2-0.  The Yellowjackets would break through and score the final goal of the first half.  Nichole Casler (Swartz Creek, Mich./Swartz Creek) (Swartz Creek, Mich.) was awarded a penalty kick at 30:07 and she made no mistake, picking up her third goal of the year to make it 2-1.

In the second half, the Warhawks blew the match open and cruised to victory.  Tooren would score in the 62nd and 65th minutes, completing the hat trick and making it a 4-1 game.  Schultz would add her second of the match 77:09 to make the final score 5-1.

The Warhawks held a 25-1 edge in shots and a 16-1 advantage in shots on goal.  Alexandra Paige (Anaheim, Calif./Loara) (Anaheim, Calif.), who has been brilliant in goal this season for the Yellowjackets, finished with nine saves.  The Yellowjacket defense was credited with two more saves in the match.  Jordan Meyers and Jacqueline Piasecki combined for the win for Whitewater.

The Yellowjackets (7-9, 0-6 WIAC) are off until the weekend when they will host UW-Platteville at the Superior High School Soccer Complex on Saturday, October 22 beginning at noon.

Saturday Update: The Yellowjackets snapped a three-match skid with a 5-0 victory over Mount Mary.  Game statistics were unavailable on on Saturday and will be posted on Monday.  We apologize for any inconvenience
