Oshkosh 7, Yellowjackets 0
The Yellowjacket women's soccer team took to the field on Saturday looking to end the 2011 season with a win and pick up their first conference win of the year at UW-Oshkosh. The Titans, however, had other ideas.
Oshkosh scored five times in the first 38 minutes of the match, putting thing out of reach and cruising to a 7-0 win over the Yellowjackets.
Nikki Reed scored her first goal of the year at 9:20 to open things up for Oshkosh. The lead went to 2-0 at 19:18 on a header by Chelsea Kierszh. Minutes later at 25:24 a goal by Jessica Erny made it 3-0 Titans. Just over ten minutes later in the 36th minute Kelsey Daulton made it a 4-0 score. A mere two minutes later, Amanda Baalke scored her second of the year at 37:56 to make it a 5-0 score.
Abby Neumeyer scored her first of the year just 1:09 into the second half to make it a 6-0 match. The Titans closed out the scoring at 73:43 on a goal by Jenna LaFontaine, to make the final score 7-0.
Seven different players scored for the Titans. Reed was the only player for Oshkosh to record a multi-point match, picking up a goal and an assist.
Alexandra Paige (Anaheim, Calif./Loara) (Anaheim, Calif.) got the start and made nine saves in the match for the Yellowjackets. Brittany Walder and Katie Berkopec combined on the shutout for Oshkosh, who outshot the Yellowjackets 28-4 in the match. Chelsea Cossin (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) (Hermantown, Minn.), Jennifer Bucci (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) (Duluth, Minn.), Katelyn Adams (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) (Two Harbors, Minn.) and Sarah Johnson (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) (Cloquet, Minn.) had shots for the Yellowjackets.
The Yellowjackets close out the 2011 season with an overall mark of 8-11 and a 0-8 record in conference play. Three seniors will graduate from this year's roster: Mandee Akason (Pine Island, Minn./Pine Island) (Pine Island, Minn.), Andrea McKay (Proctor, Minn./Proctor) (Proctor, Minn.) and Jennifer Bucci (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld).
