Eau Claire 5, Yellowjackets 0
The Yellowjacket women's soccer team opened the WIAC portion of its 2011 schedule on the road at UW-Eau Claire and fell by a score of 5-0 at Bollinger Field.
Eau Claire took charge early on got on the board at 6:36 on Brittany Burant's first goal of the year. Teighlor Tvedt made it 2-0 at 34:35. The Blugolds would get one more before halftime, at 43:25 as Paige LeGate scored her third goal of the year on a penalty kick to make it 3-0 at the break.
In the second half Burant scored her second of the game at 52:57 to make it 4-0. LeGate closed out the scoring, making it 5-0, at 80:53.
The Blugolds outshot the Yellowjackets 26-2 in the match. Savannah Schramm (Carlton, Minn./Carlton) (Carlton, Minn.) and Sarah Johnson (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) (Cloquet, Minn.) had shots for the Yellowjackets.
Nina Behrenbrinker got the shutout for the Blugolds, while Alexandra Paige (Anaheim, Calif./Loara) (Anaheim, Calif.) made 13 saves for the Yellowjackets in the match.
The Yellowjackets (2-3, 0-1 WIAC) return home on Saturday, September 17 when they play host to UW-Stout. The match will get underway at 3:00 p.m. at the Superior High School Soccer Complex.
