The Yellowjacket men's soccer team got its 2011 season off to a great start, posting a shutout on the road in the opening game of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Nick Osborn (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) (Rosemount, Minn.) made two saves and picked up the shutout as the Yellowjackets downed the Milwaukee School of Engineering 3-0 on the home field of Concordia University in Mequon, Wis.

The Yellowjackets opened the scoring when senior and All-WIAC performer Thomas Shuldheisz (Andover, Minn./Andover) (Andover, Minn.) scored just 7:43 into the match on an assist from Logan George (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) (Ramsey, Minn.) to make it 1-0.  The lead bulged to 2-0 before the end of the first half as sophomore John Levenick (Champlin, Minn./Champlin) (Champlin, Minn.) took a feed from Bryan McBride (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) (Coon Rapids, Minn.) and directed it home with his head to make it 2-0 in the 42nd minute.

In the second half the Yellowjackets closed out the scoring at 71:19 when sophomore Alberto Rivero (Santander, Spain) scored to make it 3-0.  Ben Royce (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) had the assist.

The Yellowjackets controlled the play throughout the game, outshooting the Raiders 14-8 in the match.

The Yellowjackets (1-0, 0-0 WIAC) return to the field on Sunday, September 4 when they take on Concordia University Wisconsin.  Game time is 3:30 p.m.
