The Yellowjacket women's soccer team evened their season mark at 1-1 with a convincing victory on Saturday, 5-1 over Alverno College at the Superior High School Soccer Complex.

The Yellowjackets, who fell to Hamline 5-0 in the season opener, bounced back and dominated the Blaze from the beginning.  Chelsea Cossin (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) (Hermantown, Minn.) opened the scoring for the Yellowjackets at 4:44, kicking the ball around the Blaze goaltender and going in alone to make it 1-0.  Bryanna Gale would score the tying goal for Alverno just over three minutes later.

At the 21-minute mark, Andrea McKay (Proctor, Minn./Proctor) (Proctor, Minn.) scored her first goal of the year to give the Yellowjackets the lead for good at 2-1.  Minutes later, Katelyn Adams (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) (Two Harbors, Minn.) scored her first goal to make it 3-1, which was the score heading into halftime.  Cossin and Adams would add their second goals of the game, at 68:49 and 84:46 respectively, to make the final mark 5-1.

Kalea Hatlewick (Fergus Falls, Minn./Fergus Falls) (Fergus Falls, Minn.) made her first start in goal for the Yellowjackets, finishing with two saves to pick up the win.  The Yellowjackets outshot the Blaze 40-4 in the match.  Cossin and Savannah Schramm (Carlton, Minn./Carlton) (Carlton, Minn.) led the Yellowjackets with eight shots apiece.
