Box Score

In a back and forth game, the last team to score a goal is going to probably win the game.  That was the case for the Yellowjackets when they struck with a goal in the 85th minute to escape with a 3-2 win.

The Yellowjackets set the tone first when Whitney Zegarski (Osceola, Wis./Osceola) fed a great ball from back deep to Katelyn Adams (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors).  Adams took it down about ten yards and let a shot go that beat Northland College goalkeeper Jessica Jaeckel to put the Yellowjackets up 1-0 in the 29th minute.  The Lumberjills knotted the game at a goal a piece when Anette Elson took a shot at the top of the box that beat Alexandra Paige (Anaheim, Calif./Loara) in the 42nd minute.

Chelsea Cossin (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) responded early in the second half when she was wide open on the left side of the field.  She took a pass from Rachel Rossiter (Twig, Minn./Proctor) from that point, then got around a Lumberjill defender and let a shot go to the back of the net to give the Yellowjackets a 2-1 lead.  That goal came in the 53rd minute.  However, Anette Elson responded for the Lumberjills again when she lasered a shot above Paige's head to tie the game at two goals a piece in the 58th minute.

Cossin would come up with the game-winning-goal in the 85th minute when Kalea Hatelwick kicked the ball toward her in front of the net.  She finished the job with a header that fooled Jaeckel to give the Yellowjackets a 3-2 lead.

Paige came up with nine saves for the Yellowjackets while Jaeckel stopped ten shots for the Lumberjills.

The Yellowjackets (5-11, 0-7 WIAC) will return to Public Schools Stadium in Duluth, Minn. where they will take on Ripon College.  Game time is at 11:00 a.m.
