The Yellowjackets controlled play for the majority of the game as they shutout the Ripon College Redhawks 3-0.
 
Ben Royce (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) gave the Yellowjackets a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute when Alberto Rivero (Santander, Spain/) was back deep and booted the ball down to the right to Chase Carey (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove).  Carey found Royce on the left side of the field, who put a shot to the back of the net.  Work wasn't done for the half when Karl Schmidtke (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) prevailed with a solid pass over to a wide open Ryan Linsmayer (Dresser, Wis./Osceola) cold off the bench.  Linsmayer took the ball up a few feet and put home a shot that fooled Daniel Mikesell to extend the Yellowjacket lead to 2-0 in the 45th minute.  The Yellowjackets ousted the Redhawks 12-5 in the shot department through the first half.
 
Things continued to be one-sided in favor of the Yellowjackets in the second half, topping the Redhawks 10-3 on shots.  One of those shots found the back of the net when Brian Chapman (Maple Grove, Minn./) took a free kick and let a rocket shot go that Mikesell barely had a chance in saving to make the score 3-0 in the 73rd minute.  The free kick was a result of a Redhawk foul.
 
Matt Elder (New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) only needed to make one save for the Yellowjackets while Mikesell stopped five shots for the Redhawks.
 
The Yellowjackets (9-6-2, 1-1-1 WIAC) will make the trip across the bridge to challenge The College of St. Scholastica on Wednesday (Oct. 24) in the border battle.  Game time is at 6:30 p.m.
