The Yellowjackets hit the road to St. Peter, Minn. to take on Gustavus Adolphus College in a rare mid-week week game, coming up short by a score of 3-2.
 
The Gusties set the tempo at 3:05 of the first period when Keri Pickel slipped a shot past Yellowjacket goaltender Shanley Peters (Gnadenthal, Manitoba/Garden Valley Collegiate) to make the score 1-0.  Brianna Seebold and Kayla Ingbretson were rewarded with the assists on the play.  The momentum continued to build for the Gusties when Courtney Boucher took a pass from Carolyn Draayer in the slot.  Boucher would let a one time shot go into the net to make the score 2-0 at 4:41 of the first period.
 
The Yellowjackets answered late in the first period when Karen Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba/Steinbach Regional Secondary) cut the Gustie lead in half to 2-1 at 19:14.  Lynne Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba/) got the assist on the play.  However, the Gusties capitalized on an Ashley Martin (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) interference penalty when Carolyn Draayer took a wrist shot from the left side that beat Peters on the glove side to make the score 3-1.  The power play goal came at 3:22 of the second period.  The Yellowjackets were only able to muster one goal to close things out when Lynne Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba/) put home a shot with the help of a solid pass from Karen Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba/Steinbach Regional Secondary) to make things 3-2 at 8:45 of the third period.
 
Peters made 25 saves for the Yellowackets while Gustie goaltender Lindsey Hibbard stopped 13 shots.
 
The Yellowjackets (2-1, 0-0 NCHA) will open NCHA play on Friday (Nov. 2nd) when they travel to UW-Eau Claire.  Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
