Box Score

The Yellowjackets came out firing on all cylinders from the get-go as they crusied to a 4-0 victory over the Falcons from Concordia (WI).

Offensive rhythm was nowhere to be seen throughout the first period, despite the fact that both teams collectively had three power play chances.  Things changed from the moment the second period got underway.  Kerry Mayhew (Littleton,Colo./Heritage) set the tone for the Yellowjackets when she fired home a shot from the left side of the circle to give the Yellowjackets a 1-0 lead at 3:46 of the second period.  The Yellowjackets made the score 2-0 at 18:14 of the second period when Lynne Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba/) took the puck from the corner and passed it to Kaiti Graham (Middleville, Mich./Thornapple Kellogg) at the top of the left circle.  Graham swung it over to Sheryl Kaskiw (Souris, Manitoba/Souris Collegiate) where she let a slap shot go that beat Kaitlyn Evans on the power play.

Kelsey Firkus (Chilliwack, British Columbia/Chilliwack Senior Secondary) took over for the Yellowjackets, adding two goals to close out the game's scoring.  Her first goal came at 4:12 of the third period when Hayley Epema (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) dished a pass from the top of the left circle to her and finished in front of the net to make things 3-0.  She added another goal at 16:15 of the third period on assists by Karen Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba/Steinbach Regional Secondary) and Mara Teschendorf (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North) to make the score 4-0.

Shanley Peters (Gnadenthal, Manitoba/Garden Valley Collegiate) made 19 saves for the Yellowjackets while Evans stopped 29 shots for the Falcons.

Box Score

The Yellowjackets put the finishing touches on a weekend sweep, shutting out the Falcons 5-0.  The Yellowjackets didn't allow a single goal on the weekend.

Things got rolling mid-way through the first period for the Yellowjackets when Epema took a half-way shot at the top of the right circle.  The puck found the stick of Kiara De Kezel (Deloraine, Manitoba/Deloraine) and went in the net to make the score 1-0 at 12:11 of the first period.  Things continued to be all Yellowjackets in the second period when Dani Schultz (Morris, Minn./Morris Area) added her second goal of the season at 18:01 to push the Yellowjacket lead to 2-0.

That only fueled Schultz's fire that much more when she made the score 3-0 Yellowjackets when she took a pass from Kaskiw at the top of the left circle.  She skated up the left side and put a wrist shot past Evans at 13:08 of the third period.  The Yellowjackets closed out the scoring in the game with two goals within the last three minutes.  The first one was Firkus's third goal of the weekend to make the score 4-0 at 17:18.  Ashley Martin (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) would notch her first goal of the season at 17:49 of the third period on a scrum in front of the net to push the Yellowjacket lead to 5-0.

Peters made 13 saves for the Yellowjackets while Evans registered with 31 stops for the Falcons.

The Yellowjackets (6-3, 4-2 NCHA) will return to action Tuesday (Dec. 4th) to take on St. Catherine University.  Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
