After enjoying a nice two week break from competition, the Yellowjackets didn't lose a beat en route to a 4-1 win over St. Catherine University.
 
The power play came alive for the Yellowjackets as they came through on two power play opportunities.  One of those power play goals gave the Yellowjackets a 1-0 lead when Sheryl Kaskiw (Souris, Manitoba/Souris Collegiate) dished a pass down to Kiara De Kezel (Deloraine, Manitoba/Deloraine) from the top of the left circle.  She finished the job, putting home a shot that beat St. Catherine goaltender Alex Hall on the glove side at 8:10 of the first period.  The Yellowjackets eventually made the score 2-0 at 8:39 of the second period when Haley Olmstead (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North) slipped a shot between Hall's legs on a pass from Alison Shrift (Traverse City, Mich./West High School). 
 
The second power play goal of the game gave the Yellowjackets a 3-0 lead when Kaskiw found Dani Schultz (Morris, Minn./Morris Area) on the left side of the circle from the point, where put a shot home at 5:33 of the third period.  The shutout went by the boards for the Yellowjackets when St. Catherine's Megan Killmer put a shot past Megan Leikkari (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Westgate CV&I) to narrow the score to 3-1 at 7:30 of the third period.  However, Bailey Lane (Armada, Mich./Armada) sealed the deal with a goal about a minute later to extend the Yellowjacket lead to 4-1. 
 
Leikkari made 20 saves for the Yellowjackets while Hall registered 37 saves.
 
The Yellowjackets (7-3, 4-2 NCHA) will return to NCHA play on Friday (Dec. 7th) when they will travel to Lake Forest College.  Game time is at 4:00 p.m.
