Titans come alive in second half, beat Yellowjackets

The Yellowjackets were able to hold UW-Oshkosh scoreless in the first half, but were unable to do the same in the second half en route to a 3-0 loss.
 
The Yellowjackets proved they were able to play with the #17 ranked Titans in the first half as shots were 8-4 in favor of UW-Oshkosh.  However, the one player who kept the Yellowjackets in the game going into the second half was goalkeeper Alexandra Paige (Anaheim, Calif./Loara).  She made a total of six big saves that kept the Titans frustrated going forward.
 
Things wouldn't stay that way at 64:03 into the game when Titans midfielder Amanda Baalke executed a solid pass over to a wide open Nicole Strieker.  Strieker would take it in about 20 yards out from the left forward spot where she booted home a goal to put the Titans up 1-0.  It wouldn't take long for the Titans to capitalize on their second goal when defender Becca Blue dished a pass down low to Jenna Lahmann where she fired a shot that barely beat Paige to her right to make things 2-0.  The goal came at 64:23.
 
The Titans closed out the scoring when Ashley Nicholas was all alone on the right side when she took possession of the ball off a Yellowjacket defender.  Nicholas finished the job as she dribbled the ball down about five yards and fired a screaming shot that Paige couldn't do much about to make things 3-0 at 73:06 into the match.
 
Paige came up with twelve saves to close out the game for the Yellowjackets while Titans goalkeeper Katie Berkopec only needed to make one save.
 
The Yellowjackets (2-3, 0-1 WIAC) will return to action at UW-River Falls on Wednesday (Sept. 19).  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
