Pointers win at the hive

The Yellowjacket failed to find any offensive rhythm throughout the course of the game as the Pointers came up with the 6-0 shutout.
 
The Pointers didn't waste any time getting things rolling when they took an early 1-0 lead on a Jessica Ruch goal in the seventh minute.  Kim Jobke got the helper on the goal as she fed Ruch from back deep.  Things continued to go the Pointers way in the 9th minute when Angela Gallow put home an unassisted goal that Alexandra Paige (Anaheim, Calif./Loara) had no chance in saving, she got beat high and to the right to make things 2-0. 
 
Gallow added her third goal of the game off a corner kick from Carly Falk in the 19th minute to extend the Pointer lead to 3-0.  At this point, UW-Stevens Point continued to empty their bench.  This worked out to be a superb plan as Kim Gietman came off the bench and dished a pass over the middle to Kelsey Majerus, who put the exclamation point on the play when she put the shot in the net to make the score 4-0 going into halftime.
 
The Pointers went on to add two more goals in the second half when Gallow accomplished a hat trick in the 60th minute to make the score 5-0.  With virtually the whole Pointer bench on the field, they still prevailed with a goal in the 79th minute when Emily Dietrich put home a shot to make the score 6-0.
 
Kristen Churkey and Mary Burch didn't need to make a save for the Pointers while Paige came up with seven stops for the Yellowjackets.
 
The Yellowjackets (2-7, 0-4 WIAC) will continue WIAC play on Monday (Oct. 1) when they will challenge UW-Eau Claire at Superior High School.  Game time is at 4:00 p.m.
