Box Score

Yellowjackets 3, Augsburg College 4
Box Score

The Yellowjackets were able to answer every Auggie goal in regulation, but weren't able to strike first in overtime as they fell by a score of 4-3.

Augsburg College took a 1-0 lead at 15:09 into the match when Josh Sweeney took possession of the ball off the throw in and found Gottlieb Uahengo across the field all alone.  Uahengo finished the job with a header that caught Yellowjacket goalkeeper Matt Elder (New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) flat footed.  The Yellowjackets responded when Ben Royce (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) took a shot from 30 yards out that beat Augsburg goalkeeper on the top right hand corner of the net to make the score 1-1 heading into halftime.

The Auggies wasted no time in the second half as they took the lead two minutes in when Josh Sweeney took the ball off Danny Osip's throw in and took a shot that fooled Elder to make the score 2-1.  The Yellowjackets responded with a Nate Engel (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) header off a corner kick by John Levenick (Champlin, Minn./Champlin) at 56:07 to tie the game at two goals a piece.

The Yellowjackets would give up the lead again when Chad Gilmer gave the Auggies a 3-2 lead at 65:06.  However, the Yellowjackets responded once again when Alberto Rivero (Santander, Spain/) somehow put a shot home in the middle of a scrum in front of the net to tie the game at three goals a piece.

The Yellowjackets knew that they had to be the ones to score first this time in order to win, but that wasn't the case when Scott Clinton's goal in overtime lifted the Auggies to a 4-3 overtime victory.

The Yellowjackets (1-2, 0-0 WIAC) will hit the road for the first time this season when they will travel to Arden Hills, Minn. on Saturday (Sept. 8) to take on Bethel University.  Kick-off is at 12:00 p.m.
