Yellowjackets pick up first victory of 2012

The Yellowjackets pick up their first victory of the 2012 season, beating Crown College 2-1 in double overtime.
 
The Yellowjackets found a hard time getting any shots past Hillary Brondsema despite outshooting the Storm 40-10 for the game.  The Yellowjackets struck first when Chelsea Cossin (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) took a shot from the top of the box that beat Brondsema to give the Yellowjackets a 1-0 lead.  Crown College would tie the game at a goal a piece when Samantha Samsa scored off a corner kick by Mary Voss at 22:38. 
 
It would take the Yellowjackets until the second overtime to beat Brondsema when Cossin took the ball through the midfield and struck a pass over to Julia Haeder (Munich, Germany/HLW), where she took a shot from in front of the net that went in to give the Yellowjackets the 2-1 overtime victory.
 
Brondsema finished the game with 17 saves while Alexandra Paige (Anaheim, Calif./Loara) and Kalea Hatlewick (Fergus Falls, Minn./Fergus Falls) combined for three saves.
 
The Yellowjackets (1-1, 0-0 WIAC) will return home to the Superior H.S. field on Saturday (Sept. 8th) where they will face the University of Minnesota-Morris.  Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
