Cougars nip Yellowjackets in overtime

The Yellowjackets showed life throughout the whole game, but it wasn't enough as they fell in overtime to UM-Morris 1-0.
 
The Yellowjackets and Cougars played an all-around even game in every statistical category one can think of.  The Yellowjackets outplayed UM-Morris in the first half as they outshot the Cougars 8-6.  However, shots were even at 13 a piece heading into the overtime session.  The Cougars contolled play from there on out as they outshot the Yellowjackets 3-0 in the overtime period.  Two of those shots came from Justine Wolf, who scored the game-winning goal when she took a pass from Rachel Berns on the right side and blasted a shot past Yellowjacket goalkeeper Alexandra Paige (Anaheim, Calif./Loara) four minutes into overtime to lift the Cougars to a 1-0 victory.
 
Paige finished the game with eight saves while UM-Morris goalkeeper Rikki Beaver came up with six saves. 
 
The Yellowjackets (1-2, 0-0 WIAC) will return to action on Wednesday, (Sept. 12) when they will travel to Hancock, Mich. to take Finlandia University.  Game time is at 4:00 p.m. (est.)
