Box Score

Coming off last night's heart-breaking loss, the Yellowjackets wanted to end their long trip to Adrian, Michigan on a high note.  The inability to find a jump in their step throughout the course of the game doomed the Yellowjackets in a 4-1 loss to the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs scored four straight goals before the Yellowjackets were able to provide offense of their own.  Sarah Connelly kicked-off the scoring attack for the Bulldogs when Lauren Turner dished a great pass to her toward the side of the net.  Connelly put the exclamation point on the play when she took a shot that fooled Shanley Peters (Gnadenthal, Manitoba/Garden Valley Collegiate) to give Adrian a 1-0 lead at 18:36 of the first period.  The Bulldogs would capitalize on a Hayley Epema (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) checking penalty in the latter part of the second period.  This time it was Alix Vallee's turn as she took a wrist shot that went to the top right hand corner of the net to make the score 2-0 at 16:44 of the second period.

Danielle Fitzhenry carried over her strong play from last night when she added her seventh goal of the season at 2:24 of the third period to extend the Bulldog lead to 3-0.  The Bulldogs had room for one more goal, and that's exactly what Danielle Smith had in mind.  She took a slap shot from the middle of the left circle that snuck in the net to make the score 4-0 at 10:04 of the third period.  The goal was Smith's 11th of the season.

The Yellowjackets would finally find life; unfortunately it was too late in the game.  Kerry Mayhew (Littleton,Colo./Heritage) lifted the Yellowjackets' spirits at 17:23 of the third period when she put away a power play goal to narrow the Bulldog lead to 4-1.

Peters made 20 saves for the Yellowjackets while Brittany Zeches stopped 42 shots for the Bulldogs.

The Yellowjackets (8-6, 5-5 NCHA) will return to action on Friday (Jan. 18th) where they will travel to Duluth, Minn. to take on The College of St. Scholastica.  Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
