Even though Martin Luther nearly outshot the Yellowjackets 3:1, they didn't finish when it meant the most as well as the Yellowjackets did.  Katelyn Adams (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) set the tone for the Yellowjackets when Chelsea Cossin (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) dished her a nice pass up the middle.  Adams finished the job with a shot that beat Martin Luther goalkeeper Julia Barthels to give the Yellowjackets a 1-0 lead at 30:04.  

The second half was an up and down battle for both teams.  Shelby Coombs (Anaheim, Calif./Magnolia ) got the scoring started with a goal at 60:19 to widen the Yellowjacket lead to 2-0.  This fueled Martin Luther College as they answered with two goals to tie things up.  Alexandra Hastings scored first for Martin Luther with an assist from Bethany Schultz to cut the Yellowjacket lead in half to 2-1 at 63:22.  Schultz followed up her assist with a goal to make the score 2-2 and send the contest in overtime at 72:35.

It seemed like the Yellowjackets had enough and wanted to put the game away early in the extra fun.  That they did when Coombs set up Alexandra Paige (Anaheim, Calif./Loara) in front of the net with a header that Barthels couldn't handle at 96:48 to give the Yellowjackets a 3-2 victory.  The goal was Paige's first of her collegiate career.

Kalea Hatlewick (Fergus Falls, Minn./Fergus Falls) came up with 15 saves while Barthels stopped three shots for Martin Luther.

The Yellowjackets finish the 2013 season strong with a 4-15-1 record.
