The Yellowjacket men's soccer team went on the road Saturday fresh off of their defeat against rival St. Scholastica. The Yellowjackets put that loss behind them in a big way, shutting out Martin Luther on their way to a 6-0 victory. This was the fourth time this season the Yellowjackets have shut out their opponent immediately following a loss.

Trevor Laroche-Theune (LaPointe, Wis./Bayfield ) got the Yellowjackets on the board right away when he put a Ryan Wisdom (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) cross in the back of the net 22 seconds into the match for his sixth goal of the season. 15 minutes later Laroche-Theune scored for the second time in the match, a single-match career-high, when he beat the Martin Luther goalkeeper off of a Nico Railef (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) feed.

The scoring barrage wasn't over for the Yellowjackets as Erik Boese (New Berlin, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) netted his third goal of the season. Boese took a David Villani (Adelaide, South Australia/Rostrevor College) feed to beat the goalkeeper on the left side.

The Yellowjackets dominated the first half. They held a 12-3 shots advantage, including 5-0 in shots-on-goal.

The second half was much of the same for the Yellowjackets. Ali Abdullahi (Stockholm, Sweden/International IT College of Sweden), playing in his first collegiate match, put the Yellowjackets up 4-0 at 62:56 when he put Laroche-Theune goal past the Martin Luther Keeper. It was Abdullahi's first collegiate goal.

Railef, after assisting on a goal earlier in the match, scored his first goal of the season when he blasted a shot past the goalkeeper of a James Menzies (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) feed to put the Yellowjackets up 5-0. Timothy Furland (Albert Lea, Minn./Albert Lea) capped off the scoring for the Yellowjackets when he scored off an Erik Boese (New Berlin, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) feed. The goal was Furland's first of his collegiate career.

The Yellowjackets once again dominated the half, outshooting Martin Luther 19-4 while holding an 11-2 advantage in shots-on-goal in the half.

Ben Wilhelm (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) started in goal for the Yellowjackets, making two saves in the shutout effort. Wilhelm improves to 11-4-0 on the season.

Caleb King started in goal for Martin Luther giving up five goals while making eight saves. King was relieved by Gabriel Plocher at 77:01. Plocher gave up one goal while making two saves.

The Yellowjackets (12-4-0, 6-2-0 UMAC) travel to St. Paul, Minn. Tuesday, October 20 when they take on Macalester College. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
