The Yellowjacket men's soccer team hit the road Wednesday looking to get back in the win column following their loss to Macalester College Tuesday night. The Yellowjackets did just that as they shut out Northland College on their way to a 3-0 victory. This is the fifth time this season that the Yellowjackets have shut out their opponent immediately following a loss.

The first half saw a dominant effort on both sides of the ball from the Yellowjackets, outshooting Northland 19-2, including 11-2 in shots-on-goal. The offensive barrage would not be wasted as Jonah Garcia (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) put the Yellowjackets up 1-0 netting his second goal of the season at 34:25 off of a Daniel Kearns (Greenock, Scotland/Clydeview Academy) feed.

The Yellowjackets wasted little time padding their lead in the second half. Reyman Solis (Kirkland, Ill./Huntley) put a Trevor Laroche-Theune (LaPointe, Wis./Bayfield ) feed in the back of the net to make it 2-0 Yellowjackets at 50:48. The score would stay that way until 89:58, when Joao Moreira (Teresopolis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio Sao Paulo) scored his third goal of the season to put the finishing touches on the 3-0 Yellowjackets victory.

The second half was all Yellowjackets as they outshot Northland 14-0, holding an 8-0 advantage in shots-on-goal. For the match the Yellowjackets held a 33-2 advantage in shots, with a 19-2 advantage in shot-on-goal.

Ben Wilhelm (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) got the start for the Yellowjackets, making two saves to improve his record to 12-5. He was relieved at 79.59 by Josh Herd (Glasgow, Scotland/Calderside Academy) who saw his first varsity action.

Colton Schreyer started for Northland, allowing three goals while making 16 saves in an admirable effort.

The Yellowjackets (13-5-0, 7-2-0 UMAC) are back at home Saturday, October 24 when they take on UMAC foe University of Northwestern (Minn.). Game time is set for 3:15 p.m. at the Yellowjacket Soccer Complex.
