Box Score

Northwestern (Minn.) 3, Yellowjackets 0

The Yellowjacket volleyball team went on the road Wednesday to take on UMAC foe Northwestern (Minn.) looking to break out of the current funk that they are in. Northwestern showed why they are currently at the top of the UMAC standings as they swept the Yellowjackets 25-18, 25-15, 25-11.

The first set saw the Yellowjackets jump to an early lead, as a Leah Nightingale (Dayton, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) kill made it 5-4 Yellowjackets. Northwestern then went on a 10-2 run to take the lead 14-7. The Yellowjackets were never able to get any closer than four points the rest of the way as Northwestern took the first set 25-18.

Northwestern jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the second set, and the Yellowjackets were unable to recover. The Eagles held the Yellowjackets at arm's length the rest of the set as they rolled to a 25-15 set victory, taking a 2-0 lead.

The third set saw Northwestern lead wire-to-wire as they used two 4-0 runs and a 6-0 run to build an insurmountable lead. The Eagles won the third set 25-11 and the match 3-0.

The Yellowjackets struggled to generate offense all match as they had a team attack percentage of .041. On the other side, Northwestern had a team attack percentage of .343.

Bailey Romans (Duluth, Minn./East) paced the Yellowjackets offensively with eight kills. Romans also added two blocks.
