The Yellowjackets wrapped up their regular season Saturday with a match against UMAC foe North Central University. The Yellowjackets were looking to build some momentum going into their playoff matchup with Minnesota Morris and they got just that, dominating the match from start to finish as they swept North Central.

The first set was never in doubt as the Yellowjackets used two early 4-0 runs to build an 8-2 lead. North Central was able to close the gap to within three, but the Yellowjackets finished the set on a 7-0. A kill from Ana Biscaia (Curitiba, Brazil/Colégio Positivo) placed the finishing touches on a 25-13 set victory.

The second set saw another dominant Yellowjacket performance. The Yellowjackets never trailed in the set that saw Anna Hendrix (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) and Bailey Romans (Duluth, Minn./East) finished off the set with a block, giving the Yellowjackets a 25-8 set victory and a 2-0 lead.

The third set played out like a repeat of the first two. The Yellowjackets went on a 5-0 run to take an early 5-1 lead. North Central never closed the gap any closer than four, as the Yellowjackets coasted in to a 25-14 set victory to win the match 3-0.

Ashlee Bayer (Cameron, Wis./Cameron) paced the Yellowjacket offense, finishing with 12 kills. Bayer, the only Yellowjacket with double digit kills, also had three blocks in the match.

Emily VerWay (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) had 31 set assists to lead the team. VerWay also shared the team lead in digs with 11. Karlie Leif (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) had 11 digs, good for a share of the team lead. Anna Hendrix (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) finished with a team leading 4 blocks.

The Yellowjackets were aided by 24 North Central attack errors, as they finished with a team attack percentage of .386 to North Central's -.078.

Next up for the Yellowjackets (18-13, 6-2) is a trip down to Morris, Minn. Wednesday, November 4 to take on Minnesota Morris in the UMAC Playoffs. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
