The Yellowjacket women's hockey team went on the road Tuesday, putting their four game unbeaten streak on the line against St. Thomas. Feeling confident following last weekend's sweep of Finlandia, the Yellowjackets were looking to extend that streak.

St. Thomas proved to be too much for the Yellowjackets, scoring three third period goals en route to a 5-2 win.

The Yellowjackets found themselves in an early hole in this one, as the Tommies Leah Schwartzman was able to beat Yellowjacket goaltender Sky Brown (Lenore, Manitoba/Virden Collegiate Institute) to take an early 1-0 lead. The Yellowjackets were able to strike back following a St. Thomas tripping penalty when Leah Elledge (Champlin Park, Minn./Champlin Park) netted her third of the season at the 13:02 mark of the first. Mikayla Goodin (Andover, Minn./Andover) and Hailey Adair (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park) had the assists on the power play tally.

St. Thomas managed to retake the lead just before the period ended. Rachel Friberg found the back of the net at 18:16 to give the Tommies a 2-1 lead going into the break.

The second period saw an onslaught of shots by St. Thomas, as they outshot the Yellowjackets 21-10 in the period. Despite this advantage, it was the Yellowjackets who managed to find the back of the net. Mandy Tomlinson (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) scored her second of the season at the 13:25 mark to tie the game up at 2-2.

The third period was not kind to the Yellowjackets, as the St. Thomas attack proved to be too much. The Tommies scored three times in a six minute span, as the Yellowjackets fell 5-2.

Brown started in goal for the Yellowjackets, allowing five goals while making 40 saves. She falls to 3-1-1 on the season.

Mackenzie Torpy started in net for St. Thomas, allowing two goals while making 24 saves.

The Yellowjackets (3-2-1, 0-0-0 WIAC) are back in action Friday, November 13 when they travel on UW-Eau Claire for their first game of WIAC play. Game time from Eau Claire, Wis. is set for 7:00 p.m.
