The Yellowjackets went on the road Friday night for a non-conference matchup against Finlandia University. This game was a never in doubt as the Yellowjackets rolled to a 10-0 victory.

Mikayla Goodin (Andover, Minn./Andover) opened up the scoring for the Yellowjackets at 16:33 into the first period, beating the Finlandia goaltender to make it 1-0 Yellowjackets. Hailey Adair (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park) and Abby Constant-Bercier (The Pas, Manitoba) assisted on the even strength marker.

Emily Heid (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) made it 2-0 19:10 into the first, when she put a Kelly Cockerill (Selkirk, Manitoba/Oak Park) feed into the back of the net. The Yellowjackets made it 3-0 just as the first period was set to expire, when Lynne Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba) beat the Finlandia goalie. Karen Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba/Steinbach Regional Secondary) and Emily Heid (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) assisted on the goal.

The second period was more of the same, as Karen Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba/Steinbach Regional Secondary) made it 4-0 at the 7:36 mark. Adair and Heid assisted on the even strength goal. Leah Elledge (Champlin Park, Minn./Champlin Park) and Jessica Marsalla (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) joined the scoring barrage when they scored less than a minute apart to give the Yellowjackets a 6-0 lead going into the second intermission.

The third period saw the Yellowjackets stretch the score to 10-0 as Adair and Karen Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba/Steinbach Regional Secondary) each scored once, while Lynne Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba) scored twice to complete the hat-trick.

The Yellowjackets outshot Finlandia 39-23 in the game.

Sky Brown (Lenore, Manitoba/Virden Collegiate Institute) made her third consecutive start in net, making 23 saves in the shutout effort. Brown is now 2-0-1 on the season.

Breanna Merriam started in goal for Finlandia, allowing 10 goals while making 29 saves.

The Yellowjackets (2-1-1, 0-0-0 WIAC) take on Finlandia again tomorrow to complete the weekend series. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
