The Yellowjacket women's hockey team was back in action Saturday for game two of their weekend series against Finlandia. Fresh off of a 10-0 victory Friday night, the Yellowjackets were looking to take their second from the Lions. Different day, same results as the Yellowjackets rolled to a 6-1 victory.

The Yellowjackets jumped out to an early lead, as Pamela McLeod (Gillam, Manitoba/Balmoral Hall Prep) scored her first goal of the season 5:54 into the first to make it 1-0. Abby Constant-Bercier (The Pas, Manitoba) assisted on the even strength tally.

Mikayla Goodin (Andover, Minn./Andover) then made it 2-0 Yellowjackets 11:05 into the first with her third goal of the season. Leah Elledge (Champlin Park, Minn./Champlin Park) was credited with the assist. The Yellowjackets had multiple chances to increase their lead, but Finlandia goaltender Taylor Gustafson turned away every attempt to keep the score 2-0 heading into the first intermission.

The second period saw the Yellowjackets put forth a dominant effort, outshooting the Lions 17-3. Despite this it was Finlandia with the lone goal in the second, as Sierra Meiners was able to send a shot past Yellowjacket goaltender Sky Brown (Lenore, Manitoba/Virden Collegiate Institute) to cut the Yellowjacket lead to 2-1 at the 5:43 mark of the second.

The third period saw the Yellowjackets break the game open, as they tallied four goals. Lynne Larson (Blumenort, Manitoba) opened the scoring up at 2:27 in the period with her fourth goal of the season to give the Yellowjackets a 3-1 lead. Just over two minutes later, at 4:37, Lexie Weiss (Sleepy Eye, Minn./New Ulm) found the back of the net for her first of the season to push the lead to 4-1. Three minutes after that goal Amanda Coey (Brandon, Manitoba/Crocus Plains) scored her first of the season to make it 5-1 Yellowjackets. Hailey Adair (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park) finished of the scoring barrage at 13:28 with her third tally of the season.

Constant-Bercier finished the game with four assists to push her season total to six.

The Yellowjackets outshot the Lions 46-13.

Sky Brown (Lenore, Manitoba/Virden Collegiate Institute) started in goal for the Yellowjackets, allowing one goal and making 11 saves. She gave way to Natasha Singer (Kimberley, British Columbia/Warner), who played the final 11:25. Signer made one save.

Taylor Gustafson started in net for Finlandia, allowing six goals and making 40 saves.

Next up for the Yellowjackets (3-1-1, 0-0-0 WIAC) is a non-conference road matchup Tuesday when they take on the University of St. Thomas. Game time from St. Paul, Minn. is set for 7:00 p.m.
