Sophomore forward
Liza Shelquist (Pine Island, Minn./Pine Island H.S.) scored a goal and added two assists and freshman
Sarah Fjeran (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) had two scores as the University of Wisconsin Superior picked up its first victory of the season as the Yellowjackets knocked off Crown College 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Yellowjacket Soccer Complex.
Sophomore midfielder
Cheyenne Hirdler (Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka H.S.) got the action started for UW-Superior (1-7-0, 1-3-0 UMAC), getting a breakway around two defenders thanks to a pass from Shelquist at the 8:46 mark of the match. Shelquist netted her score just 1:06 later with an assist from junior midfielder

Danielle James (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy H.S.) to net her first score of the season at 31:30 of the first half. UW-Superior had 19 shots in the first half including 11 on-goal. Junior goalkeeper
Bailey Henderson (Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul H.S.) pitched the shutout without even needing to make a single save as the Yellowjackets continued to show their stout defense that has allowed just two total goals in three of their last four outings.
Fjeran scored her second of the day when Crown goalkeeper Marissa Becerra dove to make a sliding stop, but the freshman striker chipped a ball over her and then picked up her own pass for the score. UWS finished with 29 shots including 19 on goal on the day.
