The scheduled Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match-up between the University of Wisconsin Superior and the College of St. Scholastica at the Yellowjacket Soccer Complex was postponed due to lightning and imminent darkness on Wednesday afternoon after nearly 21 minutes of play.
Though the game was scoreless when lightning delayed the game, the opening quarter was not without excitement. The Yellowjackets had a sliding score by freshman forward
Eric Watson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Hammarskjold H.S.) waved off due to an offsides call against UWS. Watson was again involved when a foul in the box by the Saints gave UW-Superior a penalty kick opportunity, but reigning UMAC Defensive Player of the Week, goalkeeper Corrado Rosato, turned him away with a diving deflection. Senior goalkeeper
Ben Wilhelm (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area H.S.) had one save for the Yellowjackets at the time of the stoppage.
A make-up date is yet to be determined.
