The University of Wisconsin Superior could not get its offense on track, falling in straight sets 3-0 in the Yellowjackets' Upper Midwest Athletic Conference opener against Martin Luther College on Saturday in New Ulm, Minnesota.
The Knights had 62 digs and eight blocks, holding UW-Superior (4-14, 0-1 UMAC) to an .081 attack percentage on the day with 24 errors. While the Yellowjackets were able to force 18 errors by Martin Luther on the day while collecting seven blocks of their own, the Knights had 45 kills offensively including 20 to edge out UWS in game two. MLC took the sets in order 25-18, 25-22, and 25-16.
Senior right-side hitter
Alexis Landherr (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti H.S.) had 15 kills to lead the Yellowjackets while Jade St. Germaine (13) and Kira Grev (11) both went over double digits for the Knights. Sophomore setter
Emily VerWay (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley H.S.) once again had a double-double for UW-Superior, with 30 assists and 10 digs. Freshman outside hitter
Brylee Colligan (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji H.S.) had 11 digs to lead the way for the Yellowjackets. Emily Neeb had a match-high 14 for Martin Luther.

The Yellowjackets finally return home on Tuesday night, playing host to northern Wisconsin rival Northland College. Opening serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
