Box Score After a victory over the Tommies by the University of Wisconsin Superior earlier this season, the University of St. Thomas evened the season series with a 3-1 victory over the Yellowjacets in the rematch on Tuesday night in St. Paul, Minnesota.

UW-Superior (7-8-0) struck first when Hailey Adair (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park H.S.) scored an unassisted tally at 8:12 into the first period. Unfortunately, St. Thomas (3-5-2) had an answer just 36 seconds later when Leah Schwartzmann netted her first of the game, assisted by Kathryn Larson and Heidi Hannula. The Tommies weren't done there, scoring just over a minute later off the stick of Rachel Werdin at 9:59 of the first. She got assists from Isabel Bianchi and Ellie Tabaka. Schwartzman would add her second before the period was out, putting St. Thomas up by two at 13:49 of the first, assisted by Allie Borgstrom and goaltender Mackenzie Torpy.

The two teams traded chances but mostly played defense the rest of the way as the Tommies maintained the 3-1 lead over the final two periods. Torpy made 23 saves for St. Thomas in picking up the victory. Senior goaltender Kim Kobar (The Pas, Man./Margaret Barbour Collegiate) made 26 stops for the Yellowjackets before being pulled for an extra attacker in the final 91 seconds. Each team finished 0-for-2 on the powerplay.

UW-Superior will return to conference play next Tuesday night as the Yellowjackets take on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on the road. The Pointers own a 2-1 victory over UWS this season. The puck will drop on the rematch at 7:00 p.m.
