UW-River Falls 98, UW-Superior 68
RIVER FALLS, Wis. (November 21, 2017) – The Yellowjackets faced a tough No. 10 ranked UW-River Falls team Tuesday, falling 98-68.
The Falcons came out with hot in the first half, shooting 50 percent from the 3-point line, and 74 percent from the field. Yet, Superior challenged in the opening minutes, as Shaq Coleman (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) got the and-one layup and made free throw to take a 3-2 lead, followed by a made Vid Milenkovic (Zurich, Switzerland/DSB Belgrade, Serbia) free throw to stay ahead at 4-3. A big Falcon run would open a 20-6 game, and the half would end 'Jackets down 51-27.
Nate Kalien (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chippewa Falls) added a 3-pointer in the opening minutes of the second half, assisted by Coleman. This would heat the 'Jackets up from the 3-point line in the second, draining 9-of-15 from the arc. But the Falcons proved to be too much on their home court.
Coleman had a game-high 19 points for the 'Jackets, while also adding seven assists. Milenkovic notched a double-double, scoring 16 and getting 10 boards. Two more Yellowjackets scored in double-digits, as Montroy Scott (Fridley, Minn./Columbia Heights) had 11, and Colton Williams (Columbia Heights, Minn. /Columbia Heights) 10.
Austin Hiedecker led the Falcons with 17.
Superior will continue action this week, as they host the Merrill Thompson Classic this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25 and 26, taking on UW-Stout and Luther College.
