The third period got away from the University of Wisconsin Superior as the No. 4-ranked University of Wisconsin Stevens Point knocked off the Yellowjackets 6-3 on Saturday in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
UW-Superior (7-15-1, 1-5-0 WIAC) stacked up 57 minutes in penalties compared to just 23 for the home team, as the Pointers finished with nine powerplay chances compared to just a pair of the Yellowjackets. Jordan Neduzak (Morden, Man./Morden Collegiate Institute) that somehow put the Pointers on the powerplay after a bench minor was assessed to UW-Superior, Lawrence Cornelier scored at 15:37 of the second with the man advantage, and Stevens Point took the 3-2 lead to the locker room after two.
Freshman Jacob Hamilton had the equalizer for the Yellowjackets just 3:19 into the third, getting an assist from sophomore
Viktor Sallhag (Vasteras, Sweden/Wenströmska Gymnasium). UWS would rack up 12 penalties in the third period compared to just six total for Stevens Point. Meanwhile, the Pointers scored the next three goals, although none officially on the powerplay.
