The University of Wisconsin Superior rallied for a 4-1 win and a series split in game two of the team's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader against Martin Luther College on Saturday afternoon after the Knights knocked off the Yellowjackets 4-3 in eight innings during the first contest of the day.
UW-Superior (8-9, 1-1 UMAC) took an early lead in game one and saw Martin Luther (7-8, 1-1 UMAC) come from behind to steal it in extra innings, but the Yellowjackets pulled out a comeback in game two to even up the season series. The Knights scored in the third inning, plating its lone run of the game with a lead-off single, a sacrifice bunt, and an error on the Yellowjacket infield. First-year starting pitcher
Megan Pehrson (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids H.S.) led off the top of the fifth innings with a single, moving to second on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore
Kayla Hartl (Medford, Wis./Medford Area H.S.). First-year outfielder

Katie White (Pequot Lakes, Minn./Pequot Lakes H.S.) followed that up with back-to-back singles to load the bases. An RBI groundout by sophomore outfielder
Saige Patrick (Steinbach, Man./St. Mary's Academy) brought home the first run, and an error by the Martin Luther infield brought home the go-ahead run.
UW-Superior got another lead-off single in the top of the sixth inning by first-year shortstop
Bailey Kinnunen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids H.S.), and sophomore pinch runner
Lizzy Borgwardt (Verona, Wis./Verona Area H.S.) would eventually come around to score on an RBI single by sophomore catcher
Gabby Gidley (Superior, Wis./Superior H.S.) after another error on the Knights' infield. A lead-off single by Fjeran in the top of the seventh turned into the fourth run of the day as Patrick doubled for the second time in the game to give the Yellowjackets some further insurance. Pehrson tossed 4.2 innings in a start, striking out eight while allowing just one hit to pick up the victory. Senior

Martin Luther 4, UW-Superior 3 (8 innings)
UW-Superior got out to a first-inning lead in the first game of the day, with the first four hitters of the day reaching base. After White led off the game reaching on a hit-by-pitch, Patrick, junior outfielder Ciarra Taiaple, and Kinnunen followed with three-straight singles, the last two providing runs. Gidley would come up with one hit, bringing home another run on an RBI groundout. Martin Luther cut into the lead with two hits and two UWS errors in the bottom of the fourth. A lead-off double in the bottom of the fifth and a wild pitch helped the Knights tie the game at 3-3.
While Kinnunen added a single in the top of the eighth, the Yellowjackets would be held scoreless the rest of the way. Martin Luther led off the top of the eighth with a single, and a pinch-runner would eventually come around to score on an RBI double to give the Knights a victory on the day. Senior right-hander
Sarah Hendrickson (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld H.S.) tossed 4.0 innings in a start on the day, allowing one earned run while striking out four. Pehrson (5-3) suffered the defeat in extra innings, striking out eight on the day while giving up one run on two hits.
