Martan Yelle (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) registered two assists but the UW-Superior men's hockey team dropped a 3-2 decision to No. 11 St. Scholastica in the consolation game of the second-annual Superior Showdown at Wessman Arena Sunday.
Jerry Miettunen (Tuusula, Finland/Makelanrinne Sports) also scored his first goal of the season as the Yellowjackets fell to 4-10-2 on the season.
Kyle Star scored twice, including the game-winner at 15:51 of the second period, for the Saints and Cole Golka notched a goal and an assist, as the Saints claimed third place in the tournament.
After a scoreless first period St. Scholastica got on the board when Star took a feed from Nolan Ross at 5:44, beating UWS goaltender

MacTavish tied the game just 16 seconds later with assists from Yelle and
Jordan Martin (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey Collegiate).
Golka converted on the power play as Davis Ross and Parker Mismash picked up the helpers for a 2-1 lead at 13:23 of the second.
Star gave the Saints a two-goal lead two-and-a-half minutes later with Golka and Davis Ross assisting on the play.
Miettunen's tally came at 15:55 of the third period on the power play from MacTavish and Yelle to round out the scoring.
St. Scholastica (9-3-2) outshot Superior, 46-33, and was 1-for-4 on the power play. The 'Jackets were 1-for-6 with an extra skater for the day.
UWS won 40-of-76 draws (52.6 percent).
The Yellowjackets next travel to St, Thomas Saturday at 7 p.m.
