Hamline 4, UW-Superior 0 | Hamline 9, UW-Superior 0
WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. (March 6, 2018) – The Yellowjackets took part in the second day of games at the West St. Paul Sports Complex, this time taking on Hamline, but…
Game 1
Superior struggled in their first game with the Pipers, unable to collect an extra-base hit on the day, or a run. Alayna Tulip (Arcadia, Wis./Arcadia) led in the batters' box once again with two hits, getting on in the fifth inning for the first time. Tulip then advanced to third on a Bobbijean Miller single, but with two outs already on the board, the Superior scoring chance was shut down on a putout to first.
The 'Jackets saw Tulip get the lead-off single in the top of the seventh inning, but three-straight outs would seal the game for the Pipers.
Game 2
The Pipers' pitching kept the Yellowjackets at bay in the second game. Miller would drop a single to third base in the third inning, Saige Patrick (Steinbach, Man./St. Mary's Academy) found her first double of the season in the fourth, and Bailey Kinnunen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) would also single in the final fifth inning.
The Pipers would put up their first three runs in the third inning, and then pile on six more in the fifth.
It was a rough day from the circle for the Yellowjackets as Macy Hanson (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg) and Damara Theis (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) both took a loss.
