MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (May 7, 2018) – The Yellowjackets played one full game and finished up two from earlier in the season against the Augsburg Auggies Monday morning. Superior got one win in the make-up game, and surrendered two losses.
Make Up Games
The two make up contests were from March at U.S. Bank Stadium.
In the first game originally scheduled for March 7, the Yellowjackets fell by a score of 13-4. Matthew Boyde (Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka) had two hits in the game, securing one double and an RBI. Braeden Barr (San Diego, Calif./Grossmount) received the loss in the contest after pitching 3.0 innings.
The second game saw a 15-8 'Jacket win. The Yellowjackets entered the game with an 11-0 lead after they scored 11 runs in the fifth inning of the contest at U.S. Bank. Boyde finished with three hits, while Barr and Brandon Rolf (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) had two hits each.
Game 1
Augsburg built a 12-0 lead after three innings, scoring 11 in the third. Superior would fire back with a one-score inning in the top of the fourth when Jordan Berrios (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) lead off with a double to center, and was driven to third by a Nick McNosky (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) single. Berrios scored on a pitch in the dirt on the following at-bat.
The Yellowjackets found a score from pitcher Joe Kanipes (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) in the sixth. Zach Remund (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) reached walked on a full count with two outs, followed by a Kanipes jack to left field. It was a 13-3.
The final scores came in the seventh. Cameron Lee (Durban, South Africa/Kearsney College) doubled to lead off, followed by a pinch-hit triple from Ryan Rukavina (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) to right-center. Lee would score on the play, and then Rukavina touched home when Bryce Flannagan singled for a 16-5 final score.
The seven hits were spread out among the 'Jackets. Kanipes was the lead RBI man with two.

The Yellowjackets will face the Northland Lumberjacks this Thursday in the opening game of the UMAC Tournament at Wade Stadium in Duluth, Minn.
