DECORAH, Iowa – Junior

Blake Perry's (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) corner kick in the 86th minute to tie the match, 1-1, and force overtime against No. 16 Luther in the NCAA Division III tournament Sunday, but the UW-Superior men's soccer team fell in penalty kicks, 4-1.
The match goes into the books as draw as the Yellowjackets' season comes to a close at 17-3-3 overall.
Playing with an extra man since the 41st minute due to a red card to Luther's Faydane Ouro-Akondo for a reckless tackle on senior

Both teams had chances in the overtime periods, with junior
Pontus Tavemark (Taeby, Sweden/Taeby Enskilden Gymnasium) pulling a shot wide of the net with 51 seconds remaining in the second overtime period. Will Overberg then found space in the box and launched one high over the crossbar in the final seconds.
The Norse opened the penalty shootout with a goal by Colin Hughes on
Ulrik Lager (Vollen, Norway/Asker VGS), who took over for
Dalton VonKaenel (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) for the spot kicks.
Gustavo Barbieri (Florianópolis, Brazil/Colégio Tendência) responded with a goal to pull even at 1-1.
Marcos Vila made it 2-1 for Luther on the next attempt. Davenport then stopped senior
Eric Watson (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold) and Ben Keller followed with a make. Davenport made a second save in a many shots, this one on Wilson, giving Harry Merz the opportunity to win it for Luther. Merz made no mistake, sending the Norse to the Sweet Sixteen for the second consecutive season.
Overberg gave Luther a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute with his seventh goal of the season into the lower right corner off of a feed from Ben Sizelove. Luther had the better of the chances in the first half, outshooting UWS, 11-3, overall and 4-1 on target in the opening half. That continued in the second half, finishing with a 24-11 advantage in shots.
VonKaenel made seven saves in his final collegiate match. Davenport stopped one shot for Luther 17-4-2), which moves on to play the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan in the Round of 16 next week.

James Bruce (Gladstone, Mich./Gladstone) and
