ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-Superior women's soccer team's season came to an end with a 2-0 loss to Northwestern in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference semifinals at Reynolds Field Wednesday.
The Eagles received two goals from Emily Currie 17 minutes apart in the first half and held on in the second to advance to the conference championship match Saturday against St. Scholastica.
Currie converted a penalty kick in the 12th minute and then took a feed from Anna Welch in the 29th.
Sophomore
Annah Schussman (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) took two shots in the match with one landing on goal for the Yellowjackets. Classmate
Madison Gutekunst (Mound, Minn./Mound Westonka) stopped 10 shots in goal.
Senior
Tatum Lardinois (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) took the 'Jackets' only other shot in the match.
Ellie Fryer earned the shutout in the Northwestern goal, stopping Schussman's 44th minute bid.
Superior's season ends at 7-11-2 overall. The Eagles (10-10-0) advance to their third consecutive UMAC championship match.
