NEW ULM, Minn. – The UW-Superior women's basketball team held Martin Luther less than 28-percent shooting and caused 24 turnovers on its way to a 78-48 victory at Luther Student Center Saturday.

The Yellowjackets shot 40.6 percent from the field themselves and manufactured 30 points off those miscues to improve to 9-5 overall and 5-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

Senior
Eva Reinertsen (Duluth, Minn./Homeschooled) picked up her second consecutive and fourth double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 boards to lead the way. Reinertsen also added five assists, two blocks and two steals. Classmate
Emily Carpenter (St. Peter, Minn./St. Peter) chipped in with 13 points, six boards, three assists and two steals.

Trailing 9-7, midway through the first quarter Reinertsen corralled the rebound of
Mackenzie Kmecik (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) miss, scored and was fouled. She knocked down the ensuing free throw, giving the 'Jackets the lead for good.

Destiny Haldeman (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) followed, putting in the first of three unanswered hoops for UWS, which led, 22-15, after one quarter and 43-25 at halftime.
Paris Kallevig (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) hit a jumper with 10 seconds remaining in the third quarter, following a
Kaelyn Christian (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville Senior) miss. Christian grabbed the rebound of her own shot and
Cassandra Tensen (Brooten, Minn./Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa) then found Kallevig for the bucket.

In the fourth, the 'Jackets led by as many as 31 at 68-39 when
Liberty Blaine (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids Senior) hit one free throws with 6:08 left. In all, 12 players saw the floor with five scoring at least eight points.

Ellie Leadstrom (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) had nine points, four rebounds, three blocks and three steals, while Kmecik and Christian tallied eight points apiece.

For Martin Luther (0-13, 0-5 UMAC), Emily Witkowski had 15 points, four rebounds and three steals.
